A Wonderful, Educational Tour by a Local Rice Farmer
… directly on his rice farm! Great for any age group!
Groups of 10 or more. Offered March-November. Lesson is based on age of group and will cover everything from the soil leveling process, planting season and techniques, water control structures and timing, harvest process, grain drying process, and sale of the product.
Field Trips and Group Tours
View the equipment and rice bins up close with full descriptions of their uses by the farmer. If time allows, you also get to visit the farmers’ organic garden. After the tour, the group can also add on a stop at the Gator Chateau in Jennings, LA.

Visit Gator Chateau
Finish your tour with a visit to our Gator Chateau, When your group arrives at the Gator Chateau, one of our alligator handlers will give a lesson on the gators- everything from their habitat, what they eat, how they grow, to how we care for them at our rescue facility.
After the lesson, we will split your group up into smaller groups. Forming a circle around one of our handlers, the students are allowed to hold one of our baby gators and take a pic with them.

Souvenirs
Following your tour, be sure to stop in next door at the Jeff Davis Parish Visitors Center to purchase a gator souvenir.
If your group is here around lunchtime, bring a sack lunch and have a picnic at our park. We have pavilions and picnic tables, along with full playground.
