Economic Development

The Jeff Davis Parish Economic Development Commission is funded through the Jeff Davis Parish Landfill.  The Landfill is owned by the City of Jennings and the Towns of Welsh and Lake Arthur and the Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury.

The commission has alliances with the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce, The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, The Chamber Southwest/Southwest Louisiana Partnership, One Acadiana, Acadiana Regional Alliance, The Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Agriculture and Forestry, Natural Resources and Transportation and Development.

The mission of JDPEDC is to help our existing businesses grow, use our resources to expand economic diversity, create quality jobs for our citizens and keep our children at home.  Our goal is to add value to who we are and what we grow.

Marion Fox directs the offices of economic development and film commissions, the tourist commission, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Tracie Fontenot, executive assistant and office manager, maintains the extensive information required of existing businesses and prospects.  Maintaining current maps, plats, marketing materials, state and federal program incentives, web site updates and individual prospect files means every client receives personal, current information regarding projects and available site in Jeff Davis Parish.

The overwhelming goal is to maintain Jeff Davis Parish in a state of economic readiness in both traditional and non-traditional high profile arenas.
